Radnja

Dinosauri s otoka Nublara bivaju premješteni na otok Sornu, na kojem se slobodno razvijaju, bez kaveza. Film počinje prikazom britanske obitelji koja neinformirano dolazi na otok, na plažu. Djevojčica iz te obitelji ugleda zajednicu kompsognatusa koji se počinju skupljati oko nje, tražeći hranu.

John Hammond, osnivač i ravnatelj Jurskog parka, nagovara četveročlanu ekspediciju na putovanje i istraživanje otoka. Obećava im sigurnost, tvrdeći da je tehnologija sofisticirana i da su mesožderi poput tiranosaura u središtu otoka. Prva je pošla djevojka paleontologa Iana Malcolnma, Sarah. Malcolm zbog nje pristaje poći na otok, zajedno sa svojom kćeri.

Ekspedicija uočava ranjeno mladunče tiranosaura i izliječi ga. Odmah do njihova kamiona dođe ljuta, odrasla majka kojoj davaju mladunče. No, ona ubrzo gura kamion niz liticu i preživljavaju Malcolm i djevojka.

U međuvremenu, neki posjetitelji nastoje uloviti dinosaure za zaradu. Odluče napraviti zbirku u San Diegu. Tiranosaur se oslobađa i stvara tragediju u San Diegu. Dinosauri se vraćaju na otok. Film završava prikazom Johna Hammonda na televiziji, kako govori da dinosauri traže odsutnost i da više ne će biti posjeta otoku.
