Mia Golam Parwar is a Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami politician and the former Member of Parliament of Khulna-5.[1] He was elected as Secretary General of the Party for the 2020-2022 session.

Early life

Golam Parwar was born on September 8, 1959 in Shiromani village of Fultala upazila of Khulna district. After passing B.Com and M.Com in Accounting from BL college, he was involved in teaching and journalism. In 1974, he joined Jasad Chhatra League and got involved in student politics.

In 1975, while still a student, he joined the affiliated student organization of Jamaat. Eventually he served as the secretary chatra shibir of Khulna city.

Career

Parwar was elected to parliament from Khulna-5 as a Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate in 2001.[2]

Recently, he was elected as the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for the party's 2020–2022 electoral session.[citation needed]

On June 30, 2010, he was arrested at a rally in Khulna and served five years in prison, and was subsequently jailed three to four times at different times for different terms
