The following is a list of television series that have been broadcast by the American pay television channel Cinemax.
Although the large majority of Cinemax's programming consists of feature films, the network has produced and broadcast, either in first-run form or as secondary runs, a limited number of television series over the course of the network's existence. Skinemax was one of the most famous, starting in the late 80s, although Cinemax had mainstream shows in the 80s. SCTV was one of their first hit shows. One of their famous ones also was a behind-the-scenes featurette called Beyond the Screen, hosted by Matt Lauer and others. It would promote the latest releases. A majority of hit blockbuster movies got their first behind-the-scenes featurettes on Cinemax, and would be promoted on this show, including, as the first version of this show from the mid-80s, Sudden Impact, A View to a Kill, Code of Silence, Invasion USA, The Delta Force, and as Beyond the Screen, Licence to Kill, New York Stories, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. The Godfather Part III, Delta Force 2, GoodFellas, The Hitman, Boyz n the Hood, Juice, Batman Returns, New Jack City, Singles, Menace II Society, Fresh, Batman Forever, New Jersey Drive, Friday, GoldenEye, The Cure, Feeling Minnesota, Ransom, and The Devil's Advocate, among many others. Most of the movies mentioned in the previous sentences made their network premiere on Cinemax, not HBO.
In February 2011, it was announced that Cinemax would begin to offer mainstream original programming to compete with sister channel HBO, and rivals Showtime and Starz; the channel is slated to develop action-oriented original mainstream series aimed at males ages 18–49. The decision is also in part due to competition from other on-demand movie services such as Netflix and iTunes, and to change Cinemax's image from a channel mostly known for its former Max After Dark programming.[1] With the launch of the HBO Max streaming service in 2020, Cinemax's non-adult library of programming shifted to that service throughout 2021, and original programming for the network has all but been depreciated under the ownership of AT&T, then Warner Bros. Discovery, with the desktop "Cinemax Go" service ending on July 31, 2022.[2]
